Slow justice isn’t justice at all. For too many families affected by deaths in custody or following contact with state agencies, justice is not only difficult to obtain, it is repeatedly delayed, and often not achieved.
Investigations can take years. Inquests are postponed. Recommendations are ignored. Throughout this process, families are left carrying the emotional, financial and psychological burden of seeking answers while those responsible continue largely without consequence.
Our Justice Delayed, Justice Denied campaign calls for:
- Faster, independent investigations
- Greater accountability from public authorities
- Government funded legal support for bereaved families
- Implementation of recommendations following public inquests and Inquiries
Every delay compounds the trauma already experienced by families. Justice cannot simply be promised, it must be delivered.
